meet our founder
Sukhjiwan Shergill is a distinguished figure in the global Bhangra community, with a career rooted in the art form since 1996. From competing on the prestigious stages of colleges and universities to performing at the international level, Sukhjiwan has won numerous prizes and accolades for his dedication to Punjabi folk dance.
With decades of experience, he has transitioned from an elite performer to a visionary leader, having directed teams from school levels to major university circuits. A respected judge for numerous Bhangra competitions and a veteran of countless youth festivals, Sukhjiwan has personally trained hundreds of students, instilling in them the discipline, energy, and cultural pride that define the PVO brand. Today, he leads PVO Performing Arts with a mission to mentor the next generation of Bhangra and Gidha lovers to keep the heartbeat of Punjab alive on every stage.
THE FORCE BEHIND PVO
Harinder Kahlon is an internationally experienced Giddha performer, coach, and judge with over 16 years of performance experience in Punjabi folk dance. Recognized for her authenticity, powerful stage presence, and deep cultural knowledge, Harinder has established herself as a well-known figure in the North American Punjabi performing arts community.
With 9+ years of coaching experience, Harinder has trained numerous teams and dancers across India, Canada and the United States, helping them develop strong technical foundations, expressive storytelling, and impactful stage presentation. Her teams have gone on to achieve top placements in multiple Canadian competitions, reflecting her dedication to excellence and her commitment to preserving the true essence of traditional Giddha.
In addition to performing and coaching, Harinder brings 6+ years of judging experience, where she is known for her fair, knowledgeable, and culturally rooted evaluations. She strongly advocates for integrity, transparency, and higher artistic standards within dance competitions and cultural events.
In 2023, Harinder founded Panj-Aab Performing Arts Calgary, a platform dedicated to nurturing talent and celebrating the richness of Punjabi folk arts. Through her leadership, mentorship, and passion for cultural preservation, she continues to inspire dancers and empower the next generation to proudly represent the energy, strength, and storytelling tradition of Giddha on stages across North America.
